Stephen Hawking and Fopp

We popped into Cambridge today. I say 'popped' because it's a 4hr, round trip. Still, it's such a relaxing place so we go now and then.

We wandered into Marks & Spencer to pick up some odds and sods and there, in the meat isle, was Professor Sir Stephen Hawking with a dozen red roses in his lap. It just proves that no one is too old to be a romantic. For the non-Brits amongst you, it's Valentine's day tomorrow and it's one big deal here and God help the man that forgets. The good professor is safe.

On our rambling round the city, we came across a shop called Fopp. How can one resist a trip into a shop called Fopp? What a shop it is. Two floors of CDs, DVDs, paper backs AND VINYL. Sheer, unadulterated heaven. If it exists, they have it or can get it for you within a few days. The staff are absolutely bloody brilliant and ever so helpful.

The CDs are cheap - between £2 - £8. Most are about £3.
The DVDs are cheap (including Blu-ray) - between £3 - £10. Most are about £5.
Paperbacks are cheap - between £2 - £10. Most are about £5.
The bad news is the cost of Vinyl - between £10 - £30. Most are about £20. I saw a brand new copy of Tubular Bells for £18.

Yes - I would imagine that Steve is a bit chuffed now that gravitational waves have been found. I should have asked him but he seemed a bit preoccupied with Valentine's day pressies.
