ABOUT BOB LIND

“As powerful an experience as I’ve ever seen a man alone with a guitar deliver in all my years owning the Luminaire! He got three encores and no one’s ever had more than one – and we have three bands a night, seven nights a week.… I adored the show and am in total amazement of Bob’s voice. I think he has the best voice of anyone to ever play at the club.… I could listen to it all night.”

— John Donnelly, owner of the prestigious Luminaire in London, England.

Totally inimitable and unique, Bob Lind writes, sings and plays guitar like no one else -– and he’s been doing it for more than 50 years.

It began in 1966, when the 23-year-old singing poet helped launch and define folk rock, writing and recording the groundbreaking megahit “Elusive Butterfly.” Since then, his songs have been recorded by more than 200 top artists (!!) including Cher, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton and Dolly Parton.

His songs are still being sung today, translated into nine languages and recorded by internationally known singers. His lyrics have been taught in colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

But nothing equals the experience of watching this dynamic entertainer deliver his own songs.

Following his astonishing 2004 comeback, after some time away from the business, Bob has been captivating appreciative audiences with his spellbinding performances. Never one to trade on the past, today he is winning a whole new generation of fans with his newer songs and his vibrant onstage charisma. After his semiretirement from what he felt was a “soulless industry,” Bob was coaxed back onto the stage in the summer of 2004 by his longtime friend Arlo Guthrie, who invited him to play the venerated Guthrie Center in Becket, Massachusetts. He came back better than ever, delivering a breathtaking concert for an audience who welcomed him with open hearts. Since then, it’s been full steam ahead. His national and Canadian tours of cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Newark, Montreal, Toronto, Austin and Miami have garnered rave reviews, not only from fans and critics, but — equally important — from club owners, booking managers and concert promoters as well.

Since his return to the business, record companies have been quick to seize upon his renewed popularity. In 2006, RPM/Cherry Red Records re-issued his critically acclaimed 1971 album, SINCE THERE WERE CIRCLES, on CD. It’s available at Amazon and other online stores. The classic album was also released in vinyl by the Spanish record label Mapache.

And in 2007, ACE Records released a CD containing his first two World Pacific albums — which include “Elusive Butterfly,” “Cheryl’s Goin’ Home” and “Truly Julie’s Blues.” The disc is called BOB LIND: ELUSIVE BUTTERFLY (The Complete Jack Nitzsche Sessions). It too is available at the usual places. And more recently, Bob released a limited-edition in-person CD called BOB LIND LIVE AT THE LUNA STAR CAFÉ –- a transcription of Bob’s 2006 performance at an intimate venue in North Miami, Florida.

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Paul Surratt made a penetrating concert/documentary featuring 13 of Lind’s songs and revealing interview footage. It’s garnered great reviews.

In 2012 ACE RECORDS released FINDING YOU AGAIN, a CD of brand-new songs that critics are hailing as his best work yet. Read reviews here.

In 2013, Bob was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame along with Judy Collins.

Perhaps critic Walter Savinski sums it up best:

“Come and see why this engaging poet/guitarist/philosopher/ singer/wise-ass has endured in the sometimes-cruel and always-fickle music business for more than 40 years. But be prepared to feel emotions you may not have let yourself feel in a while – feelings that may scare you a little. His songs hit the heart like a wrecking ball!”
